In my opinion, the worst character is this one:

This mofo is the worst character by far in this season, even worse than those boring, one-dimensional Archbishops and that's saying a lot since I don't even like the majority of those boring Archbishop here, most of them suck, but this other red-haired mofo is even worse, he achieved absolutely nothing, he was a cringe, pathethic little man that was wasting precious screentime, so not only did he achieve nothing, his script was pretty bad too, he didn't have anything interesting to say, he's probably the worst character in the entire franchise so far.

I'm anime only, so maybe he will turn into a badass later, who knows, but at this point, I don't even care, whatever they do with this shitty character in the future better be something really damn good to make up for his shitty performance so far. Just look at him, he also has one of the most punchable faces.

Heinkel annoyed me slightly when he first appeared, but afterwards I didn't thought much of him. If already, he is an interesting character to me, and I love his VA.

In regards to the worst character...? Priscilla I guess. She was always annoying, but not much this season.

The archbishops for just being cheap copies of Petelgeuse, can't believe I actually miss him after seeing how cringey those archbishops are compared to him.

Followed by Subaru, he is even more cringey in this S3 compared to previous seasons, even Heinkel is more bearable than him.

People not liking the Archbishops will always be a mystery to me. They are all extremely interesting and well written. Heinkel is a pretty good character as well, but I think the anime did him dirty. His characterization felt flat and unfinished

Tbh, I like the whole cast and I think that they are all written pretty well and have a meaningful presence in the story, even some really side side characters in their own small way. But if I had to pick one character which really got on my nerves this season, it would be Felix. I mean he's just bitching and moaning all the time because of Crusch and even as soon as Subaru helped heal her AT HIS OWN EXPENSE of contracting her share of the dragon disease, instead of manning the F up and doing something actually useful for the situation, he just continues to bitch and moan, hate on everybody and wallow in self pity and anger about how he's basically useless. Even in the end he's just going off like a firecracker and is unstable and too emotional. Major L in my book for him. Even Subaru had more cojones this season and that's pretty embarassing.

As much as I like him, Felix - Overall, I like him as a character, but this season it really felt like they turned up the crankiness to the max.. A lotttt of his screentime was him just being mad and upset, only being there to disagree with other characters </3

@Wofivanhoe My dear brother in Christ, the red-haired mofo I pointed out was even worse than Felix in the bitching and moaning department since that's exactly what he did the moment he appeared in this season and he did nothing else, he did nothing but bitch and moan like the pathethic little man he is.

Felix would probably take the Silver Medal here, but that red-haired mofo got the Gold Medal for sure, and it wasn't even close, hell I give him the Platinum Medal or the Rainbow Medal or some shit, whatever he did, was above Gold tier so congratulations on that mother fucker, he managed to annoy the shit out of me in a bad way.

@Mommyyyy Felix best moment was when he tried to protect Crusche, but my favorite was at the table in one of the earlier episodes when he was arguing with Subaru and Wilhelm about how to keep Crusche safe and was meowing all over the place I had to watch that scene like 3 times.

The problem is the show has way too many characters, and doesn't know what to do with them all; like Felt and Anastasia did squat most of the season, Otto was only a factor near the end, Reinhard wasn't present most of the time and it's had Rem out of the picture completely for a couple seasons now.

Well although I do get where you are coming from with the hate (and it's honestly very well founded, of course, he royally pissed me off too so I agree with you to some extent), but it's also the exact thing why I have it backwards and put him on the second place.

My reason is simple. Felix is supposed to be one of the good ones with a good head on his shoulders and I actually very much liked the character in previous seasons. That's why it seems so frustrating and annoying, seeing him only whine and criticize others instead of actually being of some use (and maybe make his beloved Crusch-sama proud in the process). Instead he's being such a wife and nags the hell out of everyone. I swear if they'd just put him into the frontlines he'd solo any archbishop by just nagging them into the grave. 🤣

In contrast, Heinkel IS supposed to be an pissed off, greedy, selfish, alcoholic failiure and a trainwreck of a human overall. The author meant him to be that way and he delivered perfectly. As such, Heinkel is actually a very well written character and we didn't even see the whole mess which made him this way. That probably would give him at least some depth.

It is one aspect of a well written villain, or in this case a minor antagonist, to make you hate their guts with such a burning fury as him. Also Kenjiro Tsuda is perfect for the role and made him the perfect scumbag.

I mean, you can hate on him, sure, but don't be shortsighted about it and don't hate just for the sake of hating. Be smart about it, understand what you hate because in the end, you said it best yourself. That mofo deserves a medal for how much of a piece of shit he is!

True. It's not like he was totally useless, although in the end he still totally was. Anyway it's a shame, they could do more with the character.

Also yeah, shows with this large of an active roster tend to sidetrack characters pretty easily. Although Re Zero does manage to at least make them still visible through the plot.

Anyway I have a theory that this angry and emotional mindset of his is going to be a base for his future character development. The previously happy go lucky, crossdressing catboy is gonna go angry and dark, finding the light again and be all the more stronger for it. Seems only logical. Let's hope they don't sleep on it.

@Wofivanhoe Trust me on this one mate, I don't hate a character just for the sake of hating it, when I start to hate on any character then they deserve the hate. There are other ways to make a character interesting and hateable, like Endeavor in My Hero Academia, he's a perfect example of a character that is interesting and hateable, from the moment he appeared on screen I did hate him but I also found him interesting somewhat, but in this case, this red-haired mofo is annoying and hateable, he didn't appear to have an ounce of intelligence, he was just annoying and easy to hate, nothing interesting about this, hating an annoying character doesn't mean that they are well written in my book, it's very easy to create a hateful annoying character, I'm not even a writer and I can do that pretty easy too.

Maybe he will get interesting later, but from what I've seen in this season, he's not interesting in the slightest, in fact, he was so bad that I don't even want to see him again in future seasons, whatever they do with that red-haired mofo in future seasons better be good.

Point made, point taken. Yeah it's true that he's pretty lacking for now and from what I gathered from the comments here, he's a much nore interesting character in the light novel.

Anyway as I said, the fact that he's easy to hate is just one aspect of creating a good antagonist, which he does well. But we'll have to wait and see if they are going to flesh him out more so that he can actually check the other boxes of what makes a villain interesting. (Endeavor is a prime example btw). But right now he's just S1 Joffrey from GoT, you just want him to burn at the stake without as much as a second thought. 🤣

The archbishop's were all cool. I really like Lust and Gluttony. They have cool powers and really interesting designs...

Subaru is an amazing character. I'll never understand the hate some people have for him. He's easily one of the most persistent regular humans in a serious anime. Dude has been through hell and still pushes through and does his best to save the people he cares about...

Lmao, that's literally the protagonist of Re:Zero if Subaru wasn't one.

Also a better written character than both Wilhelm and Reinhard, but I can see the anime adaptation effect.

@Laplace_kun When it comes to first impressions of a character, then I give that red-haired mofo, because I won't even bother to mention his name, a -3/10, not even a 0, he surpassed it and went beyond it to receive a minus 3 from me, that's already an achievement.

Maybe the light novel or whatever the source material is made him a more interesting character by giving him better first impressions, but dear god, the anime grabbed that character, turned him sideways, and he landed on his ass, and when he tried to stand up on his own, he forgot to tie his shoelaces, because apparently he can't do even that, it's too complicated for him man, and he landed on his ass again, and since he can't tie his shoelaces properly, he stayed in the same place he started, with his ass glued to the floor.

I don't even want to hate on that character my guy, but my patience runs thin with characters like him.

I'm with felix being the worst this season. Heinkel's job is to be unlikable. That's his point. The awful jerk character was a jerk.
Clearly he's one example of season 3 being cut a bit short hurting the season.

But we had felix before. He's a fantastic healer who does everything for his princess being the cure all. This season was nothing but hissing and just failing at everything he does best (or that we know him for) and completely stop moving the story forward. This is the lowest point we've seen felix and that hurts.

Edit:
Also we just had way more screen time to be bummed at felix than the few scenes we had with heinkel

Liliana. I didn't mind her in the early episodes, she was amusing enough I guess. But the longer the season got, the more pointless her character felt. Any time she was onscreen yapping, I was annoyed we weren't focused on any other character. Not helping is how she gave us the only episode in the series that I really don't care for at all since her flashback failed to make me engaged with her character. Really could've done without her.

Im only 4 episodes in and im genuinely considering dropping this show because of garfiel. Hes the exact chapracter archetype that i hate and is just annoying. I get that everyone has their inner demons but this guy is flatter than a 2d plane, and i guess they did him right by making him act like a 14 year old lol. He wasnt so bad in season 2 since he wasnt so prominent, but so far in 4 episodes in season 3 hes got like half the screen time. I'm hoping he isnt so prominent throughout the rest of the season...
