| The first half of the anime had me so intrigued and curious. I really thought it would be an amazing anime, I was already thinking about it's position in my top 10. But, no one can deny it, the ending just wasn't good. It's like they had an idea, but when they were halfway through, they completely changed writers. It went from "depression, suicide, self-love, feelings and mystery" to "Parallel universes and futuristic humanlike AIs" |

| Wonder Egg is so underrated that people think top 10 of 2021 is a stretch. I mean, veeery few shows in the last few years came close to the ambitiousness and display of talent WEP had. |

| Old fart here. Personally, that show has hooked me in a way none other did. Even though the ending is a bit of a let down, when you rewatch it, it's not as bad as most feel and the rest is really to me so much on top of anything released this last ten years it's not even funny. The animation is wonderful, the context is fascinating, the heavy topics are handled in a subtle way, the characters are complex and likable, the direction and pace is often stellar. Episodes 4 and 7 in particular made a very strong impact on me and are easily among the best animation films/episodes I've ever seen. It's not a perfect anime, but for me, it's definitely among the 3 most interesting I've seen in the last 10 years. Granted, I've no problem with loose ends and non-linear storytelling, so I understand totally that other people may differ. But if you're like me and haven't seen it yet, give it a try, you'll might be pleasantly surprised. |
